Breathing Challenge: Day 5

Day 5 “Breathing to find balanced flow”

Today we practice a pattern called Alternate Nostril Breathing. It is great to balance and to get into the flow. It also connects your two brain hemispheres, so you have a good balance in between your logical thinking and your creative, flow thinking.

Practice it any time. Some teachers say if you practice only one breathing pattern ever, this is a good one to do.

You use your thumb and your ring finger to alternately block your right and left nostril. So you start with your thumb on your right nostril and inhaling on the left, and then you close the left nostril with your ring finger and exhale through the right nostril. Then inhale through the right nostril, close the right nostril with your thumb and exhale through the left nostril. And repeat from the beginning. Repeat this for 2-10 minutes, then sit with your hands in your lap and just feel into returning to your normal breath for a minute. You may notice that some more space opened up inside of you.

Now you have five breathing patterns in your pocket for any situation. I hope this serves you.

Let me know how it went.
